Teaching the Body Systems- Peer Teaching
For two weeks we all became teachers. In teams of 5, each team was assigned a body system (circulatory, repiratory, digestive, excretory or nervous) and had to teach a structured class about their body system, organs and function. It was a lot of work, but everyone learned and had fun teaching.
It was also a good lesson about what it is like to be a teacher. What is it like when the class is loud and you have to keep it quiet? How does it feel when people are talking when you´re talking? What is the best way to get your students´ attention? What activities engage your students? How do you evaluate what your students have learned? All good questions which hopefully were answered through our experience of being teacher for a day.

Peer Teaching Nutrients
In groups we presented the 5 Nutrients our bodies need to grown and stay healthy. Each group used a variety of activities (i.e games, experiments, posters, questions...) to present the information. Along with learning we all had fun participating.

Folklore and Folktales from Around the World
This week began our travels to 5 different Continents through our reading of Folktales. Our first stop was the African Continent by reading, How Anansi Has Eight Skinny Legs. Anansi is a greedy, tricky spider who wants to try everyone´s food but doesn´t want to work for it. This fable and myth allows us to glimpse into the West African Culture.
Along with reading How Anansi Has Eight Skinny Legs, we´ll be using the Adinkra symbols to create patters which best represents us.

Welcome to a new, and final, trimester in 5th Primary!
Yes, it´s spring and it´s time to begin our final trimester of 5th primary. We are going to have a fantastic few months reading folktales from 5 different continents, continuing to learn about weather, clouds, climates and storms, writing wonderfully descriptive stories and deepening our knowledge of the body systems.
What a fun trimester we will have!

Reviewing Pippi Longstocking Chapters.
To help us review Pippi Longstocking we are making a chapter timeline book. Each group selects 6 of the most important events from their assigned chapter and makes a timeline showing the events. Once all of the chapter timelines are finished, the pages will be bound to make a book. Here are some examples and the girls working.
